IJEBULAND MOURNS: *Ijebu Youth March For New State* Pays Tribute to Late Awujale
The Ijebu Youth March For New State has expressed profound sadness over the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.
The Convener, Comrade Akeem Temitope Akilo stated that the late monarch, who reigned for over six decades, was a symbol of truth, justice, and wisdom.
His legacy will be remembered for generations to come. During his reign, he championed the cause of the Ijebu people, advocating for their socio-political advancement and cultural preservation. The group pledged to uphold the ideals he lived for and to continue advocating for the creation of Ijebu State.
Comrade Akeem Temitope Akilo described the late monarch as a father figure, a voice of conscience, and a relentless champion of their collective aspiration. "We remember his encouragement of women-led initiatives and his firm belief in women's roles as pillars of peace, unity, and progress," he said.
"We pledge to carry forward his legacy and to continue working towards the realisation of our collective aspirations."
The group prayed that the ancestors receive him with honour and that his royal soul rest in perfect peace.
