Ogun State PCRC Kicks Off 2025 Week-Long Activities with Call to Action
The Ogun State Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has flagged off its 2025 week-long activities, code-named "OBANTA 2025," with a call to action for its members to strengthen grassroots policing initiatives, deepen community trust in security agencies, and empower youths and women through awareness and inclusion.
Key Objectives of OBANTA 2025 includes strengthening Grassroots Policing Initiatives, enhancing Community Policing efforts towards ensuring a safer and more peaceful Ogun State, deepen Community trust. It equally aimed to foster trust and accountability between the Police and the Community through effective communication and collaboration.
It goes further by aiming to empower Youths and Women, striving regularly at promoting awareness and inclusion of youths and women in Community Policing initiatives. It also aimed at promoting Peace and Responsibility, Encourage vigilance and responsibility in neighborhoods to prevent crimes and promote peace.
The week-long activities, which commenced on July 30, 2025, will feature various events, including: Jumaat Service which would take place on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Central Mosque Kobiti Abeokuta. Patrons Night will come up on August 2, 2025, where esteemed Patrons of PRPC will be decorated for their unflinching support. The Church Service will be August 3, 2025, at St Peter's Cathedral, Ake Abeokuta.
Other Events lined up include, Unit Day, Division Day, Area Command Day, Youth Day, Women Day that will take place at various dates in-between 4th and 8th of August 2025
The Grand Finale will be on August 9, 2025, at Ijebu Ode Grammar School Hall
State Chairman of PCRC, Ven. Dr. Samson Kunle Popoola, JP, emphasized the importance of collective effort in achieving the organization's goals, stating that "when we work together, we not only complement the work of the police, but we also build a legacy of hope and safety for generations to come."
Dr. Popoola commended the State Executive Committee, Area Commands' leadership, and members for their selfless service, urging them to participate actively in the activities with pride, discipline, and a spirit of service .
He equally uses this avenue to appreciate all Police officers that PCRC has been working with especially each State CP posted and the present State CP, Olarenwaju Ogunlowo, PhD.
He extended his appreciation to the National PCRC Chairman Alhaji Mogaji Olaniyan, Ogun State Governor, HE Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, Father of the Day, Oba Gbegande Dr Alatishe, Ijebu Ode Chairman, Hon Dare Alebiosu, and others including the Patrons, Special Guests invited for their support that are still ongoing daily.
