Chief Rasak Adetubo Emerges as New Baale of Odosengolu Community
The Odosengolu Community in Ijebu Ode Local Government, Ogun State, has welcomed Chief Rasak Adetubo as its new Baale, marking a significant milestone in the Community's history. His emergence that was solidified at the Community on 2nd of August, 2025 is a testament to the harmonious blend of traditional and modern governance frameworks in Ogun State.
Chief Adetubo's selection was the result of a meticulous process that involved the full participation of all quarters' heads in the Community, ensuring collective endorsement and legitimacy in line with established customs. The principal heads of the four quarters that constitute Odosengolu Codzmmunity - Itun Korodo, Aledo, Aleke, and Akoka - endorsed Chief Adetubo's emergence as their new Baale after a screening process.
During the screening, Chief Rasak Adetubo emerged as the preferred candidate alongside other applicants, including Chief Fatai Adetubo and Chief Azeez Adetubo, while Chief Muyideen Adetubo stepped down. The other applicants have since congratulated Chief Rasak Adetubo on his emergence and pledged to work with him towards the progress of the Community.
Note that four applicants applied from the Aleke Quarters and their names were forwarded to the Community leaders. They were all screened and Chief Rasak Adetubo eventually emerged as Baale
Chief Rasak Adetubo's ascension to the Baale stool symbolizes a convergence of Yoruba Chieftaincy tradition and modern legal governance. His appointment followed traditional and internal procedures of the Odosengolu Community, underscoring the Community's commitment to fairness and consensus. This development sets a commendable precedent for other communities in Ogun State, demonstrating that traditional wisdom, Community involvement, and state regulation can coexist to uphold the dignity and continuity of cultural institutions ¹ ².
The emergence of Chief Rasak Adetubo also highlights the significance of Ogun State's Obas and Chiefs Law of 2021, which provides a framework for the selection, appointment, and recognition of traditional rulers and chiefs in the state. This law aims to redefine the traditional institution to reflect current realities and promote development in the state..
