Ogun State rolled out the red carpet yesterday as it hosted the grand Opening Ceremony of the 22nd National Sports Festival — Gateway Games 2024 — at the iconic MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta. The event marked a major milestone in Nigeria’s sporting journey, spotlighting the power of sports to foster unity, empower youth, and drive national development.

The ceremony drew a distinguished audience, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima. Other high-profile attendees included former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka, and several other notable figures from across the country.

Governor Dapo Abiodun expressed profound gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event — from fellow state governors and corporate sponsors like Premium Trust Bank, to the local organizing committee and volunteers.
