Ex-Reps Member Adekoya Eyes Return to House of Reps, Slams APC's Performance
Abdel-Majid Adesegun Adekoya, former House of Representatives member representing Ijebu North, Ijebu East, and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency, has expressed his desire to return to the House of Representatives if the environment is conducive. Adekoya, popularly known as "Attacker," stated that he wants to complete abandoned projects in his constituency.
Abandoned Projects
Some of the projects he mentioned include ¹:
- Uncompleted hospital at Ako
- Ago-Iwoye Stadium
- Orimolusi Palace
- Buruji Kashamu Skill Acquisition Center
- Imusin Ajina Shopping Complex
Adekoya emphasized that he is willing to contest again to finish these projects. He also highlighted his achievements as a lawmaker, including spreading projects across his constituency, such as Imusin Shopping Complex, Imobi Town Hall, and road projects.
Party Situation
Regarding the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Adekoya noted that the crisis within the party has been relatively settled, especially after aggrieved members left for another party. He expressed delight in the current peace, stating that the party's internal conflicts previously drained resources, with him spending N160 million on litigation alone.
No Defection Plans
Adekoya debunked speculations about defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the party hasn't impressed the masses. He criticized the APC's performance, citing issues like hunger, poor roads, and a lack of teachers in schools.
2027 Election
On the 2027 election, Adekoya believes the presidential election will be based more on candidates than parties. He advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to spread appointments across Yorubaland, noting that eight out of ten appointments currently go to Lagos.
Adekoya remains committed to public service and wants to utilize his experience to benefit his people. He rose through the ranks in politics, serving as a councilor, supervisor, vice chairman, local government chairman, commissioner, and House of Representatives member. If given another chance, he'll serve again, focusing on completing his work and ensuring his people reap the benefits of good governance .
