PCRC Week in Ogun State: A Resounding Success So Far

 









The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Ogun State has recorded a huge success in its week-long activities, with Day 2 focusing on visits to patrons at various levels. The State Chairman, Ven. Dr. Samson Kunle Popoola JP, led his team to visit notable patrons, including High Chief Olalekan Olakunle Joseph, Asiwaju Orile Imo, who advised PCRC members to maintain their tempo of service to the nation.


Day 1 Highlights: Jumat Prayer Service


On the first day of the PCRC Week, Jumat prayer services were held across different areas. The Ijebu Area Command Chairman, Alhaji Akeem Adesanwo (Maseka), led members in worship at Ijebu Ode Central Mosque, offering special prayers for the success of the forthcoming grand finale. Similarly, members of Abule Oke State Unit trooped out in large numbers to worship at Ilupeju mosque, Iyana Cele, thanking Almighty Allah for protection and asking for more.


Day 2 Activities: Visitation to Patrons


The State Chairman and his team visited several patrons, including Pa Olaloko, who was decorated as a patron by the Ibara Division. This visitation was a key highlight of Day 2 activities, showcasing the PCRC's commitment to building strong relationships with its patrons.


Police Facility Visitation


Ven. Popoola and his team also visited the police facility in Olomore Housing Estate, advocating for a tactical unit to occupy the space. This visit demonstrates the PCRC's efforts to support and enhance police operations in the state.


SWAT Commander Visitation


The State Chairman and O,C works jointly visited the SWAT Commander, CSP Murphy, to discuss ongoing PCRC projects. This meeting highlights the PCRC's collaboration with security agencies to achieve common goals.


Traditional Ruler Visitation


The State Chairman's last port of call was to the Olu of Orile Igbore, HRM, Oba Ogunbona, who warmly received the state team and appreciated the visit. This visit showcases the PCRC's respect for traditional institutions and its efforts to build strong relationships with community leaders.


Other Divisional Activities


Other divisions also reported successful activities. The Owode/Egba Division Chairman, Comrade Alaka, visited selected patrons, decorated them, and presented certificates of merit to both patrons and outstanding police officers. At Ilaro, the erstwhile Area Command Chairman, Chief J. S. Popoola, was visited by PCRC members. Meanwhile, Abule Oke State Unit organized special hourly prayers for patrons, showcasing the unit's unique approach to appreciating their supporters.


Upcoming Events


The week-long activities will continue with thanksgiving services on Sunday, where the State Chairman and Exco members will worship at Cathedral of St. Peters, Ake, Abeokuta, at 10 am. The grand finale is scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Ijebu Ode, marking the culmination of the PCRC Week activities.
