The Convener of the Yayi Progressives Movement (YPM), Armstrong 'Tope Akintunde, has congratulated the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, and the party's governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), on the emergence of Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Balogun as the party's deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
Mrs. Balogun is a highly accomplished corporate executive, finance expert, and business leader with extensive experience spanning finance, corporate governance, manufacturing, business transformation, and strategic management.
In a statement issued to journalists on Monday in Abeokuta by the State Media Director of the movement, Oluseun Joshua, and signed by the Convener, Akintunde described Mrs. Balogun's selection as a strategic and commendable decision that reflects the APC's commitment to competence, inclusiveness, and balanced representation.
According to him, the party's decision demonstrates political foresight and a deep understanding of the diverse interests and aspirations of the people of Ogun State.
Akintunde further noted that the choice of Mrs. Balogun, daughter of renowned industrialist, philanthropist, Chairman of Rite Foods Limited, and Asiwaju of Ijebuland, Alhaji Sulaiman Adegunwa, highlights the APC's resolve to promote unity and ensure equitable representation across the state's geopolitical zones.
He stated that with Senator Adeola emerging from Ogun West Senatorial District and Mrs. Balogun representing Ijebuland, the APC has further strengthened its commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and a balanced power-sharing arrangement capable of enhancing governance and fostering unity across the state.
"I congratulate and celebrate our respected leaders and principals, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, and our great party for making what I consider a well-thought-out and strategic decision. This is a balanced arrangement that further positions the APC strongly ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.
"We are all familiar with the remarkable contributions of our father and icon of Ijebuland, Alhaji Sulaiman Adegunwa, whose entrepreneurial achievements through Rite Foods have created jobs, opportunities, and impacted countless lives.
The emergence of his daughter as deputy governorship candidate is a reflection of the party's recognition of competence, service, and broad-based representation.
"The APC remains a party founded on unity, inclusiveness, and collective progress, and I am confident that the emergence of Mrs. Balogun as Senator Adeola's running mate will further strengthen the party's prospects in the 2027 general election," Akintunde stated.
